COMIC-CON 2022

So like I alluded to in my last post I’m going to start with the comic-con suits I wore in 2022 so here it is !

So if you couldn’t tell I went as jd fenix from gears 4 and as much as it was a challenge to make I did learn a lot from the process.

The last one was myself with my 2 mates who I went to comic con with last year.

Next post will be what I went as this year so stay tuned

3D printing

Over the last few weeks I have been getting to grips with a new 3D printer the “Creality 3D Ender-5 3D Printer”

I have been printing small projects to find the best settings to use and now have been printing bigger parts which can now be used in certain props

One such project was the mandalorian wester carbine!

As you can see there is a lot of work that needs to be done including hours of sanding, priming and eventually using a airbrush to paint it.

I will keep you in the know how this turns out as there are other projects in the works to so stay tuned

The 2020 plan

Hello all . I thought it was high time I gave you an update on whats happening here at UMAPROPS this new year, (even though we are already a month and a half in haha)

So here are the projects that are currently in the works at the moment, some carrying over from last year.

A remake of the ODST M7S sub-machine gun

Republic commando DC-17M blaster rifle

Starship trooper invasion/traitor of mars armour

Mandalorian armour

Stay tuned for updates on all of these project in a couple weeks and a time line for when they will be finished 😁

Halo M6 Pistol

During my time looking through amazon I came across this little a toy replica of the m6 pistol that appears in various halo games. Me being the impulse buyer that I am I bought it straight away and thought it would be a good little project to repaint. Here is the link if you want to have a look at the toy too.

The red just would not do so what did I do? paint it of course!! The first thing that had to be done was prep the toy for painting. To do this I got some sand paper and got rid of all the labels that were present. Started with a 40 grit sand paper and went down to a fine grit sponge. When those parts were nice I smooth I took that fine grit paper and sanded the entire toy. This would help with the paint sticking to the plastic better.

everything got painted in black first as a neutral coat. Once the black was done a layer of silver was put down all over the gun.

Using my brand spanking new airbrush I mixed up a slightly darker shade of silver and applied it to the top slide of the gun to make it look more realistic and used. After that a nice shade of grey was applied and once that had dried I lightly dry-brushed silver so it still had that metallic shine to it. The last bit to do was paint the pistol grip black.

A bit of weathering and here we are, all done!! this will be a great addition to a project I am currently working on. You will have to stay tuned to see what it is! 😁

AR-1 Pistol

This was just a very quick project when I had some free time and a few materials left over from previous projects.

So I took a toy gun from this:

I had a lot of fun on this project as I had to think of ways to change the existing gun to make it look different plus add some electronics to it as well. The most challenging part of this was the painting phase as some parts were very very small but I got there in the end.

DC-17m

so this is the gun that is present during ‘republic commando’ game, which was a great game!!! they need to make a second one!

Anyway the DC-17m in its blaster form is the first weapon you are given in the game and I must say it is pretty cool even by star wars standard, which is quite high in my opinion.

This build uses some of techniques that I have gained over my short time making props but as always there are ways this could of been improved and I will be tackling this prop again once my skills have improved so I can see the difference between the two.
